Favorite Destinations

Growing up vacations were never a thing in my family. This led me to having an extreme case of wanderlust. Meeting my husband led to trips together and vacations that created the best of memories. During our time together I have come up with a few destinations that I would call my favorite.

  1. Rome - There is something exciting and romantic about a city with such rich history. I I cannot get enough of the sites, the people, the history, and the food. This is hands down my favorite place. My favorite restaurant is Taverna Romana, I had the most delicious oxtail dish. Roman artichoke, pizza, and pasta…need I say more??

  2. London - I love a trip across the pond! Like Rome, there are sites and history, but there is also a laidback charm to the city. I love hoping on the tube and pretending I’m a local. The food and markets are truly amazing. I will never turn down a chance to explore Borough Market or eat at Barrafina.

  3. Paris - What can I say? Paris is always a good idea. French food, people, the art, the shopping - I have never had a bad time in Paris! Even with the jet lag from my first trip to Paris, I still remember it fondly. I’m dying to try Bistrot Paul Bert, but have never had luck getting in due to the wait and no reservations. It’s on the list for 2024.

  4. Lisbon - This is a new favorite! My husband and I celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary here and it was so relaxing and gorgeous. The architecture was incredible while the colors and tiles were vibrant. We had one of the best meals we have ever had at Gunpowder Lisboa.

  5. Florence - The first time I went to Florence, I was underwhelmed by it. We had just spent 4 days in Rome and it felt sleepy and boring. Fast forward 6 years, my husband and I had the best 4 days in Florence just taking our time and exploring the city. Doing things the Italian way. His favorite meal was at Parione while I still think about Panzanese where Dario Cecchini served us some of the best beef I’ve ever had. Which says a lot coming from a woman from Texas!

  6. Austin - This is the best blend of the West Coast and the South. Laidback southern hospitality. A little slice of Texas paradise. You can have live music, good food, and activities on the water. This is my preferred getaway destination because it can be something new and familiar at the same time. You won’t go wrong with breakfast tacos or BBQ. A recent favorite is Odd Duck!

  7. New York - The city that never sleeps…I love this city! There is a realness to New York that just draws you in. I love to wander and take the subway to my next adventure. It is the melting pot of cultures and therefore cuisines. I love a good slice, but also Buddakan delivers a meal you won’t forget. During the holidays it is truly a magnificent place.
